About Me

I’m just a guy that likes a good beer, has lived in Charlotte for the past four years, and has been to every single brewery in Charlotte at least once. Charlotte has become a millennial mecca, with new breweries popping up left and right at a rate this is hard to keep up with. As of writing this post, there are 32 unique breweries in Charlotte. I will continue to drag my fiancé, begrudgingly, to each new brewery in Charlotte as they open in order to stay on top of the brewery scene.

Ironically, I didn’t always like beer. For most of the five wonderful years I spent at the University of Michigan, I could be seen drinking Natty Light, PBR, or Labatt at a party simply because it was cheap. At that stage of life, it was about drinking to drink, not drinking to taste. However, towards the end of college, my palate became more refined and I began to enjoy more of the nuances in beer. Now well into my 20’s, I am a quintessential beer snob douchebag who spends a significant amount of time and money checking out the locally brewery scene wherever I go, whether I’m home in Charlotte or on vacation.

Cliché as it is to admit, IPAs are generally my favorite style of beer. Growing up in Michigan, Bells Two Hearted was king, and the fabled Bell’s Hopslam remains among my favorite all time beers. I also like sours (in the summer), stouts (in the winter), witbiers and hefeweizens, pilsners, and amber ales to name a few styles. In addition to Bell’s Hopslam, Or Xata (a strong blonde ale by The Bruery), and a one-time release ginger-infused pilsner by NoDA rank among my favorite all time beers.
